Well, so far so good, the lake is normal and with the mild weather, the generation is allowing more wading possibilities. Last Saturday was the exception because they generated all day. The generation has been on the schedule of about 3 hours in the morning and again about the same in the evening. Drift fishing has been good on this pattern. This schedule will probably be the rule until the weather warms and then the peak period will be mostly in the afternoon. The river is clear except at the beginning of the generation.
The fishing has been good with the rainbows biting. The number and size have been good and my client caught this nice 17 inch rainbow which had a very large girth. It seems the fish have fed well this winter. Rainbows are taking sow bugs, fox squirrel nymphs and midge pupas. Some are being taken at the park area below the dam on small emergers. A few browns are being caught but not many. It’s just that time of the year when there is no real pattern to the browns. The caddis hatch will be starting soon and this seems to get the browns more active.
Good Fishing!!
