Afternoon generation has increased due to demand and I also understand a request was made by Arkansas Game and Fish to increase flow to lower water temps.  Overall, this has improved the fishing and helped the river.   The water is clear, except during the generation periods, but the water settles quickly after the rise.
Fish are taking emergers and nymphs.  The blue winged olive hatch is mainly in the afternoon.  Midges are hatching  in the mornings.  My fishermen have caught nice rainbows and a few browns the last couple of days on the shoals.  The new generation has helped bring the fish back up on the shoals.
Check on the generation schedule to plan which area of the river you need to fish.  Some area of the river has been open to wading at any certain time, it just depends on timing the rise.  The number to check the current generation is 501-362-5150.  The approximate time for the rise to reach these areas from the start of generation is:  Cow Shoals…..Approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours.                Winkley Shoal….. Approximately 3 to 3 ½ hours                   Mossy Shoal….. Approximately 5 ½ to 6 hours                  Ramsey Shoal…. Approximately 7 ½ to 8 hours       These times depend on amount of generation and the height of the river at the time of generation.

If your making plans for a summer fishing trip, give me a call to reserve your date.
