We got about 2 ½ inches of rain from Isaac, but it was so dry that most of the rain soaked in and there was very little runoff. The lake only came up about 2 tenths of a foot and the river remains clear. The river should remain about the same as last month unless rainfall is above normal. With this forecast, fishing should be good thru the fall months. Generation should stay about the same or less if the weather cools and the water temperature is not as much an issue.
Small flies and light tippet are mostly the rule. The trout seem to want the fly moving a little so don’t be afraid to twitch the fly as you make a drift. Swinging a soft hackle worked on Friday afternoon after the rain. Small nymphs under an indicator are also a good choice.
Happy Labor Day! Enjoy the holiday and be safe!!
Hope to see you on the river on Saturday, September 8th for the cleanup. Come to Lobo Landing and get an assigned area, then return for hamburgers and hot dogs.
Good Fishing!!
