Fishing is good!  How is that for a fishing report?
Short and sweet, but that’s how it is on the Little Red.  With low clear water, the fish are active and the majority of the rainbows are above average in size.  A few browns are showing up with the cooler weather.
There is a midge and blue winged olive hatch in the afternoon each day and the fishing has been good from about 2:00 pm until dark.  The generation has been starting about 2:00 pm so you have to pick your spot based on time of the rise in the area you are fishing.  The rise has been getting to Winkley Shoal about 5:30 or 6:00 pm since they have only been running one generator.  Small midge pupas have been doing well and the last couple of days larger nymphs have been taking good fish in the deeper pools (4 to 5 foot of water).
This month (September) has been great weather for fishing.  It is a month of transition for a lot of folks, with school starting, vacations ending, hunting seasons and football games.  So, if you have a chance, give me a call and check on a trip for the last of this month.  You will find the river less crowded and the fishing should be good.  I look forward to fishing with you.

Current Weather:  Raining today…a slow, steady, soaking rain that we really need.  The river is still in good shape with clear, low water since there is very little runoff.

Good Fishing!!
