Update: September 2nd.
Things remain the same and all is good. I'll be off the river this week and will post a new report next week. I am available for bookings or questions about trips, if needed please call 501-690-9166.
The river is in good shape and the fish are biting. Simple fishing report…… the kind I like! My fly fishers (novices and experienced) are enjoying good numbers and nice size trout. Generation continues to be about 5 hours in the afternoon beginning about 2 pm. This means the water levels are best on the upper river in the morning hours and lower river in the afternoon. The river is clear on the upper level and clear, to slightly colored, on the lower level.
Sow bugs and midge pupas, on the upper river and larger mayfly nymphs, on the lower river, seem to be the flies of choice. There has been a small blue winged olive hatch during the day and some fish are being caught on small dry flies on the shoals.
The generation probably will be reduced over the weekend since this has been the trend the last few weeks. One hour in the late afternoon has been the schedule for Saturdays and Sundays. Lower demand on the weekends is the reason for this reduction.
All things are shaping up for good fall fishing on the river. The browns are beginning to get active and the rainbows’ average size is better this year. If you are considering a trip this fall, it would be best to book ahead to secure the date you want. Give me a call at 501-690-9166 and we’ll get you on the calendar.
Good Fishing!!
