The fishing remains good on the Little Red.  The browns are beginning to get more active.  Yesterday while fishing, I saw a couple of browns jumping (clearing the water….not rising to feed).  This usually means the fish are moving and beginning the pre-spawn activity.  I will keep the site posted if this continues.
The river is low and clear and the fish are taking small midges and blue winged olive mayflies.  Light tippet and small flies seem to be more productive.  I have had some success with wooly buggers late in the afternoon (about dusk), if you are ahead of the rising water.   The generation has been getting to Winkley Shoal about dark or after.
Cooler weather is forecast starting this weekend and this should reduce power demand which will reduce the generation.  Low, clear water demands better presentation and smaller flies.  Yesterday, the best fishing was from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  The mayflies were active during this time and the fish were feeding on nymphs and emergers.

Good Fishing!!
