The Little Red received about 2 inches of rain Sunday and Monday and when I spoke to the Corp of Engineers on Monday they expect the lake to rise about 10 inches. This will keep the lake in the flood pool but at this time the Corp is not planning on changing the flow over the spillway. They have been running about 2800 cfs and plan on continuing this flow until the lake is back to normal. The lake level today is 462.95. April 24th is still the target date for the generators to return online and the other date for change is May 1st when the lake’s conservation pool will change to 462.54 during the summer months. The river is clearing after being muddy on Sunday and Monday. I live on the river below Winkley Shoal and the river was looking good this evening. The cold nights and cooler days will help the surface temperature of the lake remain good for the release of water over the spillway during the remaining down time for the generators. Drift fishing has been good and should continue as long as the flow remains the same or lower, but wade fishing will have to be put on hold until the flow is cut back. My fishermen have been enjoying good numbers and some large fish. There has been a good March Brown and caddis hatch the last few days with the fish hitting nymphs. Remember that these are swimming nymphs and movement by mending and twitching while drifting will produce more strikes. Good Fishing!!
