Sorry!!  It’s been a couple of weeks since I updated the fishing report.  I spent one week visiting with one of my sons who now lives in New York City.  He came home and we had a nice visit.  The next week, the weather was great considering it was January and I was able to take several fishing trips.  My fishermen caught a lot of nice rainbows and a few good browns.  The browns are long and lean since they have just gone thru the spawn.

The river remains clear although they did not generate today and the rain last night and this morning has clouded the river slightly below Sulphur Creek.  The generation remains mostly 2 to 3 hours in the morning and about 3 hours beginning late in the afternoon. This allows wade fishing on Winkley Shoal in the morning until about 9:30 am and then at the dam in the afternoon until about 5:00 pm.  Drift fishing has been good by staying ahead of the rise until it reaches Ramsey Access about 2:30 pm.

Fishing has been good and there have been some great temperatures for late January.  The extended forecast shows some good days for fishing in the near future so if you’ve got cabin fever, give me a call and we’ll try to catch a mild day and go fishing!

I am teaching the free fly fishing class at First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs again this year beginning at 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 19th.  Classes will be held four consecutive weeks on Thursdays.  If you would like to attend, please call 501-690-9166 and enroll.
