Afternoon generation remains the rule during the week with little or no generation on the weekend. Warmer weather has increased demand so the generation during the week has increased slightly. The river remains clear and water temp is good. With cooler temps forecast, times and amounts of generation may change, so it would be wise to check projected generation before your trip. The brown trout are beginning to move with more browns being caught the last couple of days. I have not seen any spawning activity but the brown bite is improving and I am seeing more browns moving on the shoals. I have seen some rainbows spawning on a couple of the shoals. Small flies (midge pupas and pheasant tails) still seem to be the most productive with midge hatches in the morning and blue wing olive mayfly hatches in the afternoon. Combine these with light tippet in the clear water and the chances of success improve.
