Winter weather finally arrived at the Little Red River. After above average temperatures for the fall, the weather is more in line for the last part of November. With the lower morning temperatures, the generation schedule has changed to 2 to 3 hours of generation in the morning and again for about 4 to 6 hours from mid-afternoon to early evening. It is best to check each day since the hours and amounts change daily with more during the week and less on the weekends. The brown trout are moving and the rainbows are also active. This makes for good fishing if you pick the right section of the river according to the generation. Since the generation has been starting about 6:00 am, wading is available till 9:30 at the Swinging Bridge and then the park is ok to wade about 1 ½ hours after the morning generation ends until the afternoon generation begins. Fly fishing is best on the falling water sections of the river. Please be careful to avoid the redds while wading. Our brown trout depend on their eggs not being disturbed until they hatch.
May all have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!! Good Fishing!! Greg Seaton 501-690-9166
