Fishing was good over the weekend with good weather and low water. By Monday, the water was very low with little current since there had been no generation since the previous Thursday. This slowed the bite Monday morning and the rain moved in late Monday and Monday night. The river is now muddy but generation is scheduled for Tuesday night and Wednesday night. If this goes as scheduled the river should start clearing by Thursday and be ok by the weekend. The warmer than normal weather is starting a blue winged olive hatch with some March browns and caddis showing up in the afternoon. Over the weekend it was midge pupas first thing in the morning switching to mayfly nymphs by midday and afternoon. We had a good turnout for the free fly fishing class on Thursday evening. Anyone missing the class Thursday can join us this Thursday evening, February 23, at 7:00 pm at Heber Springs First United Methodist Church.
