One to two hours of generation in the morning seems to be the rule since colder weather has arrived. There is also an occasional early evening generation for a couple of hours. Each day is different due to the changes in temperature so it’s best to check each day before planning your trip. The river remains clear and the bite has been fair to good by staying ahead of the generation or behind the generation on the upper river after the morning flow has passed.
The brown spawn is continuing and redds are on most of the shoals so please use care in wading as to not disturb the eggs.
Watch in the upcoming weeks for information on the free fly fishing class I offer in Heber Springs. The class meets once a week in the evening for 4 weeks the last two weeks of February and first 2 weeks in March. Hope you can plan on attending Thursday evenings, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Heber Springs. Please call to register (Greg Seaton, 501-690-9166)
Notice: I did it again….dropped my phone in the river! If you called on December 12, please call back. I now have a new phone and I lost my voicemails and recent calls for that day.
