The river is clear with generation from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm running 2 units (full generation). The lake level is 474.7 which is 12 ½ feet high, but due to the high water in White and Arkansas rivers, the Corp is only able to run this amount of water from Greers Ferry. This release rate should remain until the White River can take an increased flow. One should check the daily SWPA forecast for time and amount of generation before planning a fishing trip on the river. The forecast is for more rain this week which, if heavy, will stain the river.
Fishing has been good by staying ahead of the new generation each day. Drift fishing with mayfly nymphs, sow bugs and midge pupa has produced good rainbows and a few browns. Wading is possible at the dam and Cow Shoals early and Winkley Shoal later in the morning until about 1:30 pm (based on 10:00 am generation).
