The river remains low and clear. Generation ended on October 15 with only one unit for one hour on a couple of days since then. With water this low, a good presentation and a little longer cast is necessary since the fish are easily spooked. Small flies have been the best choice with emergers and nymphs taking fish. Swinging an 18 to 20 soft hackle when fish are rising has been productive. Using a smaller indicator while nymphing is a must since the larger ones cause a disturbance when hitting the water as you cast.
With water this low be very careful when motoring the river. Especially if you are using a conventional outboard. The rocks always win if your prop hits the bottom. The river is the lowest it has been this year and areas where you were clearing may not be navigable now.
