Heavy rain and storms have caused the lake to rise rapidly and it is now 468.8 ft and rising. This is about 7 feet above the normal pool level. This is causing the corp to generate around the clock, with one to two units running for the passed two days. The river is also muddy due to the runoff from the heavy rains. All in all this makes for poor conditions on the river. Hopefully we can get a break in the weather after Wednesday and the river will begin to clear with generation only and no runoff.
The caddis were still hatching when this event began and we’ll just have to wait till it clears to see if this continues. I will post again as soon as there is a change in the conditions. Right now it looks like high water with a clearing as the rain decreases. White and Norfork rivers are also flooding so as soon as a generation pattern is established on the Little Red, I will post it.
With the increase in generation and the return to higher water, please be careful on the river and be aware of the increased flow.
